Bear Themed Baby Shower

bearHello!

This morning I got my butt out of bed for a 5:15am class. I was even 5 minutes early. This was mostly because I wanted to make sure to have a spot in the back of class. I usually don’t care but I can’t do all the moves with my bump so I wanted to stay out of the way as much as possible.

bear2

Over the weekend my in laws threw me an adorable bear themed baby shower! I loved the theme and it went well with my mama bear necklace that I haven’t had a chance to wear yet.

bear4
This was a cute spin on fruit salad. I ate the cone as well if you were wondering.

bear3 bear1

This adorable onesie and mug are from etsy! Can’t wait to use them!

bear5

Ryan’s aunt made these amazing home made cupcakes with a caramel center.

bear6

I hope I can actually use these diapers! There is a blue moon in the center for Ryan. The shower was a blast and I was stuffed from all the amazing food. We start bi-weekly appointments already. I feel like after Christmas this baby will be here at the speed of light!

**Ever made a diaper cake?

Kemps Yo2 Frozen Yogurt Giveaway

This post is sponsored by Kemps, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Frozen yogurt is a year round treat for me but even more so at 32 weeks pregnant!  My mom told me she craved ice cream throughout her pregnancies and I can say we definitely have that in common. At least these days there are a few healthier options like Kemps YO2 for example.

I had a hard time deciding which flavors I wanted to try from Very Vanilla, Raspberry Cheesecake, Cold Brewed Coffee, Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge, Mudslide and Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch. You can’t get bored with that variety!

I went with brewed coffee and chocolate pb fudge flavor and paired it with an apple and cinnamon cupcake. The chocolate pb fudge was my favorite!

Check out those swirls.

YO2 is made up of clean ingredients you can feel good about! Now that we moved, we aren’t near a frozen yogurt shop. Luckily, I have Yo2 as an option which is much easier on my wallet too!

Honestly, it tasted 100% like ice cream. I promise you wouldn’t be able to tell it is frozen yogurt.

**Which flavor would you choose? Leave me a comment below and I will choose 5 winners to receive a $5 coupon for Kemps Yo2!

Baby Shower #2

My mom and sisters hosted my second baby shower in my home town! We had a great turn out given the blizzard that showed up. It was a game free shower which I hope everyone appreciated.

There were these super simple ham sandwiches served. They were really easy and you can make them ahead of time!

We made a huge fruit salad and left it in the fridge on accident. At least we could still eat it the next day. There were wine spritzers and my sisters made sure I had a mocktail at all times.

I zipped through my gifts really quickly and everyone make fun of me. Hopefully, they secretly appreciated it because you can only watch someone open gifts for so long. Baby S is very spoiled already! I am so grateful!

Diaper cake and little party favors for the guests on the way out.

33 Weeks!

Hello!

Now that I only have 7 weeks left until my due date I thought I would start doing more pregnancy update posts. Why not ?!

Baby: He or she is about 17 inches and almost 4 pounds!

Rings: On. I haven’t had any high blood pressure or swelling. Knock on wood!

Sleep: The snoogle pillow is back! I got rid of it for a few weeks. I miss sleeping on my stomach so much! Maybe even more than sushi and wine. I really only get up once a night to pee. I read about other moms getting up a few different times. I am sure that will be me in the next few weeks.

Movement: I can feel movement much more during the day!

Body: I haven’t felt any Braxton hicks contractions at all. In our labor class the women are all due around the same time and a few of them have already started feeling them.

lots of yoga!

Workouts: Those 3 mile runs have come to a halt.  I’ve had some pelvic/hip soreness after running so I keep it to about a mile a few times per week. When I first started feeling the pelvic pressure I thought for sure I was in labor. Luckily they assured me I probably pulled a muscle. I am still doing the workouts from the Active app. I love the trainer Jake Dupree! I miss it so much. I did start swimming though. I made Ryan take a video of me because if I am going to get in that pool when its zero degrees outside, I want it documented. Check it out on my instagram.
Lately: Pretty bummed I cant enjoy the “nesting” phase of my 3rd trimester. We are moving in to our apartment soon so I am anxious for us and Baby S to have our own space!

Loving: I am loving overnight oats in a peanut butter jar. I warned my co-workers that I wasn’t eating just peanut butter there is some oats and greek yogurt. Ha!

Friday, we are headed to my in laws for Christmas! I hope the drive isn’t too terrible!
Don’t forget to enter my Kemps giveway on my last post!

Just dropping in to say Happy New Year!

In case you wanted the latest bump pic 🙂 This tank is one of about three workout shirts that fit me at the moment. I think I need to head to walmart and get a few more.

We are in love with our cabinet color for our new house!

My nephew Parker is sitting up so nice in his chair. Love him to pieces.

Christmas and NYE

Good Morning!

A little late to the game here but hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!

I had a relaxing spa day before the Christmas festivities. Good thing there was one size fits all robes! I got my nails done and a facial. I didn’t realize how relaxing a facial. I even got a foot massage. I was going to get a prenatal massage but decided I would be pretty uncomfortable.

We were planning on heading up to my in laws Friday night but a huge snow storm hit so we ended up staying in the dells.  We rented Me Before You which I thought was so good after reading the book.  Early Saturday morning we trekked up to La Crosse in much better weather. We went to church on Christmas Eve and I had to step outside towards the end because it was so hot in there. I walked back in to get back to my seat and a girl about my age passed out by our pew! She was okay thank goodness.

There was so much good food over the weekend! Cowboy caviar of course.

Ryan’s aunt made these amazing cupcakes. So delish!

New years eve I went to brunch with a few of my friends. It was so fun to catch up. This was my big excitement for the day since I told Ryan we would be renting a movie for NYE. He ended up being sick anyway so it kind of worked out! We went to bed around 10p and woke up at 8am. I shouldn’t get too used to this seeing as we will have a little one waking us up in 5 weeks!

My nephew Emmett decided to have a spa day of his own in this ball pit. He kills me.

** How was your Christmas and New years!?

Wiped Out

Well I am glad this week is finally over! I came down with the flu on Monday and I have no idea where I got it. I woke up with weird side cramps which then turned into puking for 24 hours. I even got a flu shot this year! It was miserable to say the least.

I worked a full day Wednesday but went straight to the doctor afterward. I still had the side pain and they thought it could have been my kidneys. Luckily, it wasn’t my kidneys and it could just be the way the baby is positioned and I just need to stay hydrated.

I have been trying to drink this zico coconut water and it isn’t my favorite. I finished the Bai coconut water was much better but I am sure it is much less healthy.

Lots of hands on baby S at a packer party last week!

We are celebrating Christmas with our family this weekend. Can’t wait 🙂

**Any belated Christmas parties for you?

Rain and Lobster

Hola!
The weather is miserable here. It is pouring out and we are supposed to have crazy winds. I think I may need to hold off on grocery shopping.

I am officially over the flu but still having terrible pain in my side. I’m not sure if the baby is just pushing like crazy or what but it’s rather annoying. Laying around after work seems to be the only option, however we just moved into our apartment and it needs to be completely unpacked. One box at a time! Happy 36 weeks to me! It’s so crazy/scary that I could really go into labor at any time.

We finally celebrated Christmas with my family and we pulled out all the stops. I helped assemble Carrots ‘N’ Cake‘s lightened up mac and cheese. We omitted the Brussel sprouts but will be sure to include them next time. This was delish and fairly easy to make! We used gluten free pasta too.

We used my moms new insta pot that she got for Christmas. The lobster was cooked perfectly!

I am loving these breastfeeding bars from Freida Pantry.  They include fennel, tons of Omegas, and healthy fats. I am hoping they work once Baby S is here! Coincidentally,  tonight we actually have our breastfeeding course.  Let’s hope I get tons of information so I am a little less clueless in a few weeks. Some people consider postpartum to be the 4th trimester which is going to prove true once the baby arrives.

**Do you have a insta pot/pressure cooker?

Friday Faves

Hi,

Unfortunately, nothing fun to report here. We lost my dear brother in law Brian this week. He will forever be missed. I am in Chicago helping my sister with the overwhelming preparations. Friends and family have been so generous with keeping Tricia’s fridge and pantry filled to the brim.

It is hard to transition from that but I wanted to do a quick Friday Faves since it has been a few months!

Friday Faves

Favorite Boost: I have started using probiotics and am pumped Smarty Pants Vitamins has kids gummies now!

Favorite Sip: I am loving this Tazo Tea. Last night, I pretended the tea was wine NBD.

Easy Chicken Enchilada Casserole | gimmesomeoven.com #mexican #glutenfree

Favorite Casserole: I have made a version of this Enchilda Casserole from Gimme some oven but would love to spice it up with the avocado.

Favorite Gadget: We finally put together a few baby gadgets including our Rock N Play. I am hoping that the baby will be able to hang out in there from time to time.

Favorite Smoothie: I am going to try to buy the ingredients for this smoothie before Baby S’s arrival!

Favorite Moment: My nephew Emmett volunteered to cuddle with me and it basically made my week.

**Any exciting weekend plans??

Zoodles

Back to the grind! It has been a very long weekend but I’m still not ready to get back to the grind.
I made my first zoodle dish! I have had the hand zoodle maker for a long time now but haven’t actually used it. It was surprisingly easy. I did cut myself so I see why people buy the fancy one with the handle. We made some red sauce with just tomatoes, garlic, basil, and oregano. We added a little gluten free pasta too and chicken sausage for the meat eaters. It turned out delish!

The night also ended with some ice cream. Have you heard of insta cart? Tricia has had some overwhelming support and her friends have been sending deliveries to stock her fridge. Even huge tubs of ice cream from Costco.

I love this newborn pic via kayla1116. I should start pinning a few ideas so that we remember to snap some pictures in the hospital.

This weather can go away at any time. It is freezing rain and the roads are awful. When I got to work yesterday my co worker met me at my car to help me into the office.

** Is it freezing rain by you?

Archie’s Birth Story

0

Hello!

I applaud any bloggers that get their birth story posted days after giving birth. Archie is over a month old and here I am! I am typing this post with one hand so please excuse

I still cant believe he is even here, let alone a January baby. I guess that is how it goes when your water breaks 3 weeks and 1 day early! I yelled from the bathroom and Ryan didn’t hear me at first. I yelled again, my water broke and he responded are you kidding!?
We got in the car but I honestly thought they would just send us home and tell me my water hadn’t broken. I expected to leave the hospital and go straight to work. A short test later I found out that it did indeed rupture. I was of course so nervous but knew that little Archie was ready to come meet the world! They gave me some pitocin to get things moving. It sure worked because I was 6-7 cm by 6p. My doctor advised us that Archie was breach because he thought he felt his butt. He then explained that we needed a c section and I didn’t believe it.  He wheeled in the ultrasound to confirm and he was wrong! His head was down! Thank goodness because I was in no way prepared for a c section.

I made it 8 cm without the epidural and then realized that I was crazy and asked if it was too late. Luckily it wasn’t and I was able to get the drugs! Best decision ever because I didn’t feel a thing while I was pushing. Next thing I knew our doctor shouted it’s a boy and the little guy was here! He was 6lb  9 ounces and 19 inches!
Because 36 week and 6 days is considered pre-term labor they did a lot more testing on Archie and also gave me some antibiotics while in labor. It was kind of funny because if he would have waited a few more hours none of that would have been necessary.

Archie loves tummy time and usually ends up falling asleep like that!  He will easily fall asleep while being held but the second you lay him down alone he screams. I have had to set my laptop up on my bed and lay him next to me most of the time to get anything done!

**What are your weekend plans?

Baby Days

Wow! People aren’t joking about having zero time to yourself once you have a baby. I really need to learn how to take naps. My mom watched Archie one day this week while I went into work. It was nice to be back to a routine but I missed my baby! I started the 21 day sugar detox this week too! I never realized how much sugar is in different foods.

A few shockers were carrots, peanut butter, yogurt, and milk! I am only on day 5 so I am hoping I can stick with it! I still eat oatmeal in the morning since I am nursing and it is supposed to keep your supply up. I just mix oats, vega protein powder, flax seed, chia seeds, and cinnamon. Pretty boring.

This was one recipe we made for buffalo cole slaw. I dislike cole slaw normally but this was amazing!

I also made some basic tuna with avocado on cukes.

Just for show, my pre-21 day detox whole foods hot bar. The cajun sweet potatoes are the bomb.

**Have you ever done a detox??

Weekend

I finally made it to yoga today and the instructor was gone. Turns out they allowed the zumba teacher to sub. Um no thanks. I feel like now that I need a babysitter I need to make every workout worth it and this one sure wasn’t.

Since I am still doing the 21 day sugar detox I have eaten a lot of spaghetti squash and lettuce wraps. I even caved and ordered the veggie unwich from jimmy johns because I was too lazy to make them.

I ran outside yesterday and got serious wind burn on my face. Wasn’t expecting that at all! I can’t believe I am excited for the 30 degree heat wave this weekend.

Our 8 week old is getting baptized this weekend! I am going to attempt to cook for a crowd at my parents house afterwards so it should be interesting! As long as I provide alcohol hopefully that will suffice.

The construction on our house is finally starting to look like a house!

**Any tips for wind burn??

Archie – 2 months old

Wow! I can’t believe our little guy is 2 months already! I feel like we just got home from the hospital. I am writing this while Archie is in his baby bjorn! So far its the best carrier we have tried.

Height/weight: His 2 month appointment is next week so not sure! According to our scale he is 10 pounds though. Still a little peanut.

Eating/Nursing: I went back to work part time at 7 weeks. Pumping at work has gone better than expected! I actually bought a car adapter and pump on the way too and from work. Good thing I have tinted windows! Archie stays with grandma and it seems like he eats much more when he is with her and is much happier. We have been trying to feed him a bottle after I nurse him so he stays happy but he seems distracted when Ryan or I try to feed him. I guess my mom will just have to move in with us 🙂

Likes/ Dislikes: Oh … I think I’ll start with dislikes because there are many.

-the dark

-being alone

-being swaddled

-dry winter

-being on his back

Likes

-His activity mat. .

-tummy time

-sleeping on his tummy or his side

-car seat

Sleep: If we try to swaddle him he screams until he can figure out a way to get his arms out or if we give in and help him. He is constantly moving and so its no wonder he is always starving!! It stinks we are forbidden to let him sleep on his side or belly because he loves it!

He is starting to pull on the toys hanging on his activity mat and put them in his mouth. He also has found his hands and thumb. I am hoping he keeps up this habit so that he can soothe himself to sleep!

Clothing: Archie is finally outgrown some of his newborn clothes. It was like one day they fit him and one day they didnt. I took him to meet a few friends and everyone called me out and said -you know this is too small on him right… uh no I didn’t … oopsy! Mommy fail. He is starting to get a few rolls which I am so happy about! His legs are super skinny so we are barely out of the new born diapers still.

Archie is getting baptized tomorrow! It looks like it should be fairly warm outside too which will help. Hope him and my nephews behave themselves.

**Any tips for getting a 2 month old through the baptism?

Vega Chia Pudding

Hello and Happy Monday!

I am pretty proud of being able to cross a few things off my to-do list today! I got to the gym at 6am, tidied up the apartment, took a nap (yay), took Arch to a play date, and am sitting down to write this post. Oh and lastly, I was able to create a yummy Vega chia pudding bowl.

Vega Chia Pudding

-1/2 cup plain greek yogurt

-2 teaspoons chia seeds

-1 scoop chocolate vega protein

-Sliced strawberries for topping

Directions:

Simply stir together! It gets pretty thick from the chia seeds but it is delish I promise!

Archie met the Easter bunny! Em wasn’t impressed.

Archie also went for his first walk around Lake Geneva!

Have a great week!

Saying Goodbye and Recents Eats

Hello!

This week I have to say goodbye (for now) to my bestie Taylor! She is leaving me for California. While I am NOT okay with this, I know she will do amazing out there. It also gives me a fantastic reason to vacation.

I will still force her to fly home and attend weddings with me.

I have been making these egg cups every week for work! There is quinoa, black beans, and other veggies. They may not look pretty but they are so easy, healthy, and delish! Recipe to follow shortly!

Another home made dish by my sister! Zoodles and salmon FTW.

I never order hummus but I went out on a whim at Gino’s. It was just what I was craving! It was hard not to finish the whole thing myself.

Rose and popcorn outside.  Not bad for the beginning of April!

We are heading to Chicago for Easter. I am thinking of bringing a brussel sprout salad. I wish I was ambitious enough to make a bunny cake.

** What are your Easter plans?

Gluten Free & Allergy Friendly EXPO in Schaumburg April 22nd-23rd, 2017

Happy Hump Day,

I am typing this with my eyes half shut after a 5:15am workout this morning! I am so glad I got up to sweat but it is hard to leave my sleeping baby at home. I try to go straight to work from the gym so that makes it pretty hard. I considered stopping at home after working out but I decided I probably shouldn’t be late after being off with maternity leave.

While I am not completely gluten free, I plan to omit most gluten from my son’s diet. When I use the work “plan” I use that pretty loosely because he wont start eating solid foods for a while but I am going to strive for it. On that note, I am excited to attend the Gluten Free & Allergy Friendly EXPO this weekend. The GF Expos is the fastest growing diet event in the US. This is so exciting that society is more passionate about their health.

As a blogger for the #GFAFExpo I am able to giveaway 5 free tickets to the expo this weekend! To enter to win just leave me a comment below with your favorite gluten free food!

What does the ticket entail?

  • Discounted products for purchase
  • Entry into the vendor fair with over 100 brands
  • Reusable bag to carry your goodies
  • Valuable coupons at the vendor booths
  • Samples from the vendors are considered to be gluten free

Click Protein Giveaway & Easter Fun

I started off my day with some Click Protein in my tea.  You can’t beat the amount of protein for the low amount of sugar. I love it with coffee or tea. I am all about adding Click to hot beverages.

I have added it to a few smoothies but definitely prefer it hot!

This is a little late but we had such a fun Easter this year. Archie’s cousins were all together and it was basically the cutest thing ever.

Emmett allowed Archie to sit with hi! Parker wasn’t too pleased.

“I’ll take the entire basket of eggs please.”

I cannot even stand Archie’s pouty face in this picture.

Would you like Click protein as a post-easter treat? I am able to giveaway a canister of the flavor of your choice! Just comment below with the flavor you prefer. I will choose a winner next week.

What a weekend! I had a blast chatting with different vendors at the Gluten Free Allergy Free expo.  It was absolutely packed with people! My stroller got a good workout and I realized that Graco Click Connect is the worst. It doesn’t swivel or turn easily at all.

I got to meet Hannah of Hannah’s Healthy Bakery who was so sweet.  I am going to plan a fun movie night with my nephew and make her home made pasta. Homemade pasta seems so intimidating but Hannah reassured me it  would be simple.  I got to sample her biscuits and the texture was unreal.  You can’t tell its gluten free at all!

Vital Proteins were handing out bone broth and I had fun chatting with them.

Tricia and I had to take a quick pic with Sun Butter. Dare I say I like this more than peanut butter? It is so smooth. I first tried it when I used to babysit for a little girl with a nut allergy. Yum Yum Yum.

I am so happy I attended my first GF expo!
